From Nebbiolo (roughly 80%) and Vespolina, the two grapes required for the DOC, farmed at nearly 500 meters. The cool air currents from Monte Rosa provide powerful diurnal temperature changes, while Monte Fenera provides shelter from storms and mild winters. Fermentation occurs in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks, with thirty days of maceration on the skins
The wine has a bright, ruby color and show with aromatics of red currant and blood orange. On the palate, the wine is juicy with a notable tannic component.
About this wine producer: Tenute Guardasole is a very small estate located in the Alto Piemonte - far Northern Piemont. The estate’s two-hectares of vines are planted on the highest hillsides of the region, and farmed organically. Marco Bui, the proprietor is in the vanguard of young wine producers bringing life back to this long abandoned region. His tiny winery is state of the art, but his winemaking practice is to intervene as little as possible.
