A (by no means complete) maps of Meursault showing important vineyard sites
Meursault is a large village by Burgundy standards and is famous for the white wines produced within its boundaries. Situated in the Côte de Beaune, where the soils have less clay than the Côte de Nuits, the vineyards are perfectly suited for producing rich, balanced wines from Chardonnay.
There are no Grand Cru vineyards here, but the best producers in the Premiers Cru produce wines counted among the best white wines of Burgundy. There are also notable red wines produced in Meursault, particularly in the Santenots Premier Cru (most often sold as Volnay, the neighboring village to the north), and in the Premier Cru Blagny, reds from which are sold as Blagny Premier Cru.
