When I read Michael Pollan’s book, The Omnivore’s Dilemma, I was left wondering what I could do to support small-scale agriculture, and more selfishly, eat better. Today, I received an email from Heritage Foods USA that piqued my interest.

Heritage Foods is a business that helps small-scale, sustainable farms to find markets through the internet, and to help consumers (like me and you) have access to artisan foods, and an alternative to industrial agriculture. Their advisory board includes Alice Waters, founder and chef at Chez Panisse, Bill Niman of Niman Ranch, and Mario Batali (whom we quote every once in a while). Their client list of restaurants in New York, is a Who’s Who, and in Philadelphia, Chef Mark Vetri is a client.

If you’re looking for a source of “real” food from artisan farms (to pair with our artisan wines), check ‘em out.

‘Scuse me while I order a turkey for Thanksgiving…
