By David Moore
In between stints as a rock ‘n roll/ blues/ country/ singer/ drummer/ radio and voice-over talent, David spent 18 years in Philadelphia restaurants. In 1973 he joined the staff of Janine et Jeanine washing dishes.
By 1979 he’d become sommelier/maitre’d at Déjà-Vu (“don’t blame me, I never cooked”) – and opened Philadelphia’s first “wine bar” in 1981. His last restaurant gig was the hugely successful wine program at Jack’s Firehouse in 1989, which built an audience for his entry into wine retail in 1991.
Currently, in between stints as IT director/ graphic designer/ troubleshooter/ staff psychologist/ mapmaker/ partner in Moore Brothers New York, David is a rock ‘n roll/ blues/ country/ singer/ drummer with more energy than a 52 year-old guy needs.
You’ll find him holding court at Friday night events in our New York store, and harrassing new customers in New Jersey.

Dave,
Great site will visit often.
I am a very loyal NJ customer and do my best to keep you in business.
One question came to mind the other day while in the store… As a PA resident should I be concerned about my purchase record kept on file on your POS software at the store?
Naturally all of the wine that I purchase in NJ is for consumption in that fair state and this is of course a hypothetical question. But hypothetically speaking are the records accessable?
Regards, Vince
Simply put – no. The state of PA isn’t going through our system, and it’s quite secure. Sleep peacefully.
Dave , thanks for all of your time on Sat.
If you are evr down Ventnor, stop in for some great food, Sam Vitola
David,
Nice work on the site. I’ll bet Hank Williams never had a site like this one! Good luck with everything. See ya soon.
Sweetheart,
Your maps are beautiful. And you are too – love that photo!

You recently mentioned Radicchio(4th& Wood) which leads me to report that our last meal there was disappointing. Everything seems to have run downhill. Till then we had always enjoyed this informal BYO for its fish and pastas.
Was this an abberation or have any others shared our experience?
Harold Jacobs
Hi Harold,
I was last there a month and a half ago. It was stil fine. Sounds like an abberation, but then again, even in the old days Le Bec-Fin had an “off” night. It’s the nature of the beast.
