<p>Last week my parents came down to visit and do some holiday shopping here in the City of Brotherly Love. It was also an opportunity for me to celebrate my Father&#8217;s birthday at Pumpkin, a restaurant I&#8217;ve been eager to revisit.</p>
<p>Pumpkin is a cool little spot on the 1700 block of South Street where the menu changes daily according to the availability of the freshest possible ingredients. I stopped by Pumpkin on my way to work to get an idea of the menu for the night and settled on a good choice of white and red; <a href="http://moorebrothers.com/?p=435">Jochen Ratzenberger&#8217;s 2005 Steeger St. Jost Riesling Halbtroken</a> for the white, and the <a href="http://moorebrothers.com/?p=436">Domaine Jaume 2005 Vinsobres</a> for the red.</p>
<p>The Wianno oysters, seared scallops, saut&eacute;e fluke, and pork with spatzle worked perfectly with the Ratzenberger Riesling, while the braised short rib dish (a wonderfully complex preparation) was perfect with the <a href="http://moorebrothers.com/?p=7">Vinsobres</a>.</p>
